  1. खुरपका मुहंपका में पशु के शरीर का तापमान काफी बढ़ जाता है और यह दो से तीन दिन तक बढ़ा रहता है। 
  2. पशु के मुंह से लार निकलती है जो चिपचिपी, गाढ़ी और झागदार हो जाती है। 
  3. मुहंपका के अंदर पशु के मुंह में छाले हो जाते हैं. जिसकी वजह से पशु सही तरह से खान पान नहीं कर पाते। 
  4. खुरपका की स्थिति में कई बार पशु बहुत ज्यादा लंगड़ा कर चलते हैं और कई बार तो चल ही नहीं पाते।
  5. इस रोग के चलते पशु की दूध उत्पादन क्षमता घट जाती है।

  • पशु को मानसून के समय खुले में चरने के लिए न छोड़ें। 
  • गाय भैंस को संक्रमित पशुओं से पूरी तरह दूर रखें। 
  • संक्रमित गाय भैंस के साथ आहार और पानी न पिलाएं। 
  • जिस स्थान पर पशु रहता हो वहां गंदगी पैदा होने से रोकें और समय – समय पर सफाई करते रहें।
